So Your Child Can

Understand Before Moving On

and Have a Solid Foundation

Our microschool is available to our students in our reading program, math program, and academic enrichment program.

... SO INSTEAD of your child worrying about due dates and hurrying up,

THEY CAN focus on the material and have time to think carefully.

... SO INSTEAD of your child having extra time to complete assignments while the rest of the class moves on (how stressful to feel behind),

YOUR CHILD will get to complete the unit they're on and stay on track (without feeling behind).

... SO INSTEAD of your child having to sacrifice their free time to finish up schoolwork (this makes it harder to focus by the way),

YOUR CHILD will use the time they save from moving faster on their strongest subjects, so they can take their time on more challenging subjects.

... SO INSTEAD of your child daydreaming through class lectures due to it being too easy or too challenging,

YOUR CHILD will be able to

adjust their playback speed,

pause, rewind, or rewatch lessons.

so they can pay attention, and take time for deeper learning through other means.

... SO INSTEAD of your child going to school just to be graded on what they happen to remember or understand, without getting the chance to fully learn what they missed,

YOUR CHILD will have the opportunity to truly learn the material and only pass a course once they meet the minimum grade level that you set.

(For subjects your child is highly interested in or excels at, we recommend setting the passing grade at 90%.)

With Kindergarten Prep and Beyond's Microschool, you can:

  • Take vacations whenever you like. Since our program is year-round, your child will get to finish their courses.

  • Have another person in your circle who encourages your child to learn and grow.

  • Feel a sense of support with your child's education.

Your Child Will Love Learning This Way!

They Will:

  • Be able to sign up for in-person classes and activities in the community

Students won't have to do their schoolwork at set times, so they can attend "homeschool" events and activities during the day. You won't need to give us a doctor's note for missing class either.

  • Be able to change in-person locations

We offer a variety of in-person settings to support your family's needs:

    • At Home
Students can participate from the comfort of their own home with a quiet, distraction-free setup.

    • Select Licensed Childcare Providers
Families may choose from select licensed childcare providers who adapt their schedule and routine to support our program.

    • Ad-Hoc In-Person Tutoring – Elk Grove, CA
In-person sessions are available by appointment via text. Parents are welcome to drop in at any time and stay as long as they’d like during their child’s session. Please ensure the environment remains quiet and distraction-free to support all students.

    • Parent-Swap Days
Families may coordinate with one another to trade days and supervise each other’s children at no cost. Note: These arrangements are independently organized by parents. We do not interview, screen, or vet participants.

“My daughter started Ms Maureen's class during the pandemic while she missed preschool and friends. Then when she went back to preschool [in person] we continued with her reading program. Ms Maureen's program was very well structured for teaching a young reader how to master words. My daughter is not afraid to sit down with a 200 page book having no pictures for days --- not sure how much she understands but I am proud of what she has achieved in being comfortable with words. I love that Ms Maureen has a customized lesson plan for each kid and in the process I have also learnt a little on how to be patient and how to make sure my daughter has understood a concept by following up at regular intervals.” – Dina T. (Yelp)

“My son joined after school activity 3 month ago, i can see how his education level and attitude has changed, mainly because of the owner of the place, because she is very kind person, and deals with him as a mom not a teacher or owner, she is very helpful, open minded and set up a friendly environment for the kids...” – Nermeen L. (Yelp)

“This review is long overdue! Maureen and her program have been our family's saving grace. Our son is on the Autism spectrum and from day one, she treated him like one of her own children. He has learned so much academically and socially from her program that I give her all the credit in the world for his progress in both areas…” – Carina S. (Yelp)

“My daughter came here for Kindergarten Prep and I was not disappointed. Ms.Maureen was a phenomenal teacher…My daughter grew so much academically, just over a few months. It was incredible to see her transformation! Thank you so much Ms.Maureen! If you all are looking for a good place to prepare for your child for Kindergarten. I highly recommend it.” – Adam M. (Yelp)

Got Questions

We Have Answers!

Do parents have to be present?

Parents might have to teach their child what buttons to press on their education technology tools such as their chrome book, printer, email, document camera, etc. (if applicable). Young children may need more support. Let's meet over Zoom to discuss.

Do I have to buy any extra supplies?

A printer may be needed. We can also ship hardcopies of PDF files for FREE instead. Just pay S&H. Headphones are recommended.

Is it easy to access?

Yes. You can access our online sessions on Zoom, and online curriculum on any device where you have internet.

Can I cancel anytime?

You can cancel our services anytime. Online curriculum is provided through a third party and the $300 is not refundable.

What if I miss a session?

Attending sessions to work on curriculum is not required. It's meant to support parents and students, and provide structure/accountability if needed. Choose what works best for your situation.

How will you know when my child is ready to advance?

Courses are self-paced. After a course in a given subject area is complete, we will make the next course available. Students are excited to let us know when they're done. When children are ahead of grade level, there is a chance content can eventually become too difficult. When this happens, assignments in that subject will be provided less often (e.g., once/week or once/month). Students will work on academic enrichment in the meantime. There is always something to work on here.

How can I best help my child learn?

Show enthusiasm, interest, and curiosity in what they're learning. Communicate with us about how your child is doing and feeling. We can make a little change that makes all the difference.

How can I remember to sign my child in for a session?

Since your child can drop in anytime, we suggest posting our Zoom hours somewhere easily accessible.

We will be on vacation. Can we get a partial refund?

No. The cost of curriculum goes to a third party, and it's for a 12 month period.
