Our premier private preschool and pre-k offers exceptional education to children ages 3-5 (and 3-12 at Parents' Night Out during the summer). Ms. Maureen!
Hi! I'm Ms. Maureen and I'm the owner and teacher at Kindergarten Prep and Beyond. For as long as I can remember, I've always wanted to be a teacher. I've been teaching for eighteen years, and I love creating experiences for children that are educational and a lot of fun at the same time. For example, providing field trips and an individualized approach. Outside of teaching, I love visiting museums and attending local events with my family.
Now, I get to teach YOUR child!

We want to get to know your family, so please invite your whole family to attend our free fun family events all year long:
* Park playdates throughout the week. If we are learning about deserts, we will meet at Oasis park, a desert-themed park, for example. Come at the times that work with your schedule.
* Playdates at Enchanted's indoor playground (your child gets a free membership)
* City sponsored event get togethers (like the ones at District 56)
* Free monthly field trips for your whole immediate family (usually Fridays)

Our small classes of just 6 children allows your child to be comfortable and grow valuable friendships with the other preschoolers and teacher. Because conflict-resolution skills are super vital to learn at this age, we help your child work through their problems with other children. Your child will receive individualized instruction through our thorough assessments and curriculum. Ms. Maureen will guide your child in the areas they need to improve, and challenge them when they’re ready for more. Our balance of teacher-directed and child-initiated hands-on activities follows the NAEYC guidelines to strengthen your whole child’s development: Social, Emotional, Cognitive, Language, and Physical.

Teaching children is a huge responsibility, and we take that responsibility seriously! Not only are we city licensed, Pediatric CPR/1st Aid Certified, and Certified in Preventative Health and Safety, but our distinct policies and procedures regarding health and safety help to keep your child in a safe, clean environment. We’re constantly cleaning, washing hands, and monitoring all activities to prevent any accidents.

To extend our learning we go on many field trips each year, and you get to join your child on them. We’ve gone to places like: the zoo, amusement parks, museums, indoor playgrounds, community events, fire station, police station, pumpkin patch, library, and more! We’ll also celebrate special occasions with parties for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, and your child’s birthday!

Your child will receive a t-shirt to wear on days we meet in the community. When your child grows out of it, they get a bigger size! We also save some of your child’s artwork for a special portfolio you get at graduation.

When should I call to register my child?
It’s never too early to call, so call as soon as you even think about registering, because our classes fill up ridiculously fast!
When does preschool start? Can I enroll mid-year?
We have a 10-month school year (Aug.-May) and 2-months of parents night out on Fridays and online reading program (June-July). If we have spots available, you can enroll mid-year. Please call us to see if we have any spots available.
How old does my child need to be to attend?
Preschool classes are for children who are ages 3-5 (and "independent almost-3-year-olds") by Sep. 1. Parents' night out during the summer is for children who are ages 3-12 by June 1.
Does my child have to be potty trained?
Yes. If you have any questions about whether or not your child is ready, feel free to give us a call. We even have a “How To Potty Train” your child handout we can give you. It’s helped many preschool moms quickly potty train their kids. We’re here to help!
What is your teaching philosophy?
We follow a “whole child” philosophy where we work with you to improve your child’s Social, Emotional, Cognitive, Language, and Physical skills. Our curriculum is based on the NAEYC guidelines and features a balance of teacher-directed and child-initiated hands-on activities to accomplish these goals. We also incorporate Fundamentals Preschool Curriculum. Your child will learn to socialize, make friends, develop social and emotional skills, and be more than ready for Kindergarten!
Are there additional fees during the year?
No. Your registration fee covers all your child’s supplies and reserves a spot in our program. Your child won’t pay anything to attend our field trips and activities. And your family can come for free too! Your child will also receive at no extra cost: a preschool shirt to wear on Spirit Day and a graduation portfolio!
What if my child has food restrictions?
Allergens may be present in the home. We do our best to clean and sanitize, but cannot guarantee that there won't be traces of anything. To prevent accidents or mistakes, especially if we have a new employee or volunteer, we ask these families to bring in their own snacks.
Is the registration fee refundable?
No.
How many students do you have per class?
We have the smallest class sizes in Elk Grove so your child gets lots of 1-on-1 time. We only have 6 students per class.
How do I register my child?

Circle Time
We practice our communication skills and make friends.
Snack Time
We practice our manners and social skills. We pray before eating.
Recess Time
We practice our gross motor skills indoors and outdoors.
Story Time
We practice our literacy and rhyming skills. We listen to a Bible story too.
And Each Day We Play In Our Learning Centers Too!
Writing Skills
We practice our letter and number writing skills.
We write each letter/number from start to finish until we remember how. After mastery, we practice writing smaller. Then, we practice capitalization, spacing, and punctuation when copying sentences.
Reading Center
We learn how to read by first practicing letter recognition. After, we learn all the sounds that each letter makes. Then blends, digraphs, and sight words in this order. We practice what we don't know yet individually. After that, we read in small groups (this part is online in our online reading program).
Music Center
We practice our rhythm and repetition skills. We have fun singing and dancing to many songs. We especially enjoy Andy Z and Twinkle Time. During the summer for Parent's Night Out, we have a time for dance parties!
Sensory Center
We practice our fine motor skills with our hands. We have a lot of super fun play-dough tools!
Math Center
We practice our sorting, shapes, and colors. We practice only the skills we don't know yet individually.
Science Center
We practice our problem solving skills using science. We always love to see what happens!
Art Center
We practice our creativity and fine motor skills. Real art is when we decide what we want to make and how we want to do it.
Building Center
We practice our construction and math skills. We learn to respect what our friends have made and ask first before taking it apart.
